THIS FIX ONLY WORKS FOR NVIDIA CARD OWNERS sorry AMD card owners. A potential fix for both NVIDIA and AMD card owners is to try running your game in compatibility mode for windows 8. Rust runs better on every machine this way! I've recently discovered this! If you have low FPS on a low end machine this probably won't help you but it might. There are, however, a ton of FPS improvement tutorials for RUST on YouTube so try those! Also, I would like to say that this does not work for everyone! I wish it did, but I still get messages from people saying it had no effect. PC Gaming is complicated so nothing will work for everyone but just be advised, this may or may not work for you. The reason why you do this is because Fortnite is a very cpu heavy game and it tends to have an affinity to load all of the processing power to the first core, which is CPU0.
