"It Doesn't Matter Anymore," written by Paul Anka, was recorded by Buddy Holly on October 21, 1958 in the same session as "True Love Ways, " "Raining in My Heart," and "Moondreams" with Dick Jacobs' orchestra. Released on January 5, 1959 on the Coral label, backed with "Raining In My Heart" it became a hit shortly after Holly died in a plane crash on February 3 reaching #13 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This beautiful song was written by Buddy Holly (though also credited to Norman Petty) and recorded with the Ray Ellis orchestra on October 21, 1958, at the Pythian Temple Studio in New York City. It was not released until March 1960, after Buddy Holly's tragic death, when it was included on the album, The Buddy Holly Story, Vol. 2, on the Coral label. The personnel on the track are : Buddy Holly: vocal; Al Caiola: guitar; Sanford Bloch: bass; Ernest Hayes: piano; Abraham "Boomie" Richman: tenor saxophone; Clifford Leeman: drums; Doris Johnson: harp; Sylvan Shulman, Leo Kruczek, Leonard Posner, Irving Spice, Ray Free, Herbert Bourne, Julius Held & Paul Winter: violins; David Schwartz & Howard Kay: violas; Maurice Brown; Maurice Bialkin: cellos. Though the sax solo is credited to Boomie Richman, some sources credit it to Sam The Man Taylor. Buddy Holly, born Charles Hardin Holley on September 7, 1936 in Lubbock, Texas died on February 3, 1959 in an airplane crash. This is my first time checking out some Iowa ghost towns and, although there weren't lots of things to see, the stories and what's remaining was very interesting! You would never know Buckhorn was such an important center for the butter and milk industry, and the fact the creamery still stands is really fantastic! My first look at Rockville only showed a creepy cemetery in the woods, but upon further exploration I found an old mill. And the final stop wasn't a ghost town, but was somewhere I couldn't pass up - the crash site where Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and JP Richardson (The Big Bopper) died. All in all it was an interesting and sobering little road trip :) T-shirt: Wichita State Track & Field Part 107 certified drone operator Follow my travels: Facebook: 🤍 Instagram: 🤍 Travel blog: 🤍 Twitter: 🤍 Contact: jwise🤍goshockers.com 0:00 Buckhorn 2:45 Rockville 5:19 Buddy Holly Crash Site Music Wishful Thinking - Dan Lebowitz The Day The Music Died - various

Don McLean called February 3, 1959 “The Day the Music Died.” On that day, near Clear Lake, Iowa, Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson were killed when their small charter plane crashed in a cornfield. Holly was only 22 years old. As would be expected with such a horrific accident, Holly suffered severe injuries to his body when the plane went down. The singer-songwriter’s autopsy report shed some light on what exactly happened that night. These are the tragic details found in Buddy Holly's autopsy report. #BuddyHolly #Music #Icon Read Full Article: 🤍
